The design of this signet ring is based off a pontiff intaglio ring for wax seals. The coin set in the ring is an oxidized silver casting of a vintage greek coin featuring Alexander The Great. 

Oxidized silver has a beautiful historic feel for jewelry (think Austro-Hungarian empire) and is a wonderful contrast to the yellow gold.
