An interplay of terracotta and azure blue establish the base tones in this stunning vintage Tabriz. Ivory and rich brown define motif elements throughout. The rug has an axial composition with a large lobed medallion and pendants in a field of elaborate florals. Ornate arabesque spandrels in each corner and matching borders frame the field. Tabriz in northwestern Iran has been a rug center since the fifteenth century and is known for productions of ornate court rugs, or "city rugs."
